A FIRST IN EUROPE — A LANDMARK UKRAINIAN PERFORMANCE CREATED FOR AUSTRIA

We Are Ukrainians is a monumental global concert tour launched by the Peace Committee of Ukraine to honour the unwavering solidarity of the international community in the face of war. On 27 June 2025, this cultural journey reaches Vienna — the beating heart of European heritage — where the majestic Wiener Konzerthaus will host We Are Ukrainians. Years of Resilience.

There is no coincidence in this choice: Austria and Ukraine are bound by centuries of shared history, imperial legacy, and a profound cultural kinship. Vienna, as the eternal capital of art and music, now opens its doors to the soul of Ukraine — a nation whose voice resounds with courage, memory and unbreakable dignity. It is a solemn tribute, a gesture of reverence, and a powerful bridge between two nations united by history and human spirit.

The Vienna concert will feature 70 of the ensemble’s finest artists — leading vocalists, musicians and dancers. They will present a programme thoroughly developed during the years of full-scale war, shaped by the experience of living through conflict. This performance reflects a critical historical moment and Ukraine’s determination to defend its culture under fire.

The National Honoured Academic Folk Ensemble named after Hryhoriy VERYOVKA is the most historic and respected folk collective in Ukraine. It was founded in 1943 in Kharkiv, during the Second World War, and to this day remains a key guardian of national cultural identity.

Over the course of 80 years, it has preserved and promoted Ukrainian folk heritage at the highest professional level. The ensemble is officially authorised to perform the National Anthem of Ukraine at all major state events — including presidential inaugurations and parliamentary openings.

The choir has performed in more than 60 countries around the world, including appearances at the UN Headquarters and before Pope John Paul II in the Vatican — consistently representing Ukraine on the global cultural stage.

The evening will be hosted by Eurovision stars César Sampson from Austria and Jerry Heil from Ukraine — a symbolic on-stage encounter that reflects the cultural dialogue between the two countries. Their joint appearance on one stage becomes a symbolic meeting of two musical cultures and two peoples united by shared values and a common European future.

A special highlight of the evening will be a performance by Jamala, the Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision Song Contest — a voice that has become synonymous with freedom and resilience in the face of aggression. She will perform her legendary song “1944”, which brought Ukraine a historic victory at Eurovision and became a powerful anthem of memory and defiance.

The concert will welcome Ukrainian war heroes and soldiers who returned from Russian captivity, alongside Oleksandr Usyk, undisputed heavyweight world boxing champion and a symbol of strength and perseverance, and 11-year-old Alexandra Pascal, who survived a missile strike and now embodies hope.

Standing beside them will be representatives of the European Parliament, ambassadors, diplomats, and leading international organisations — voices from across the world, united in honouring Ukraine’s courage and its fight for freedom.

This concert is a charitable tribute to Ukraine’s youngest victims. All ticket proceeds will go directly to the rehabilitation of children injured in Russia’s full-scale war — turning every seat into a step toward their recovery.

The event is held with the support of the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria.
